Share recipes with friends

Open a saved recipe and tap Share recipe. They preview it and choose whether to add their own copy. Your personal notes stay private, and the private link expires after 14 days. Open my cookbook →

Remember this one thing: If a post has a Full recipe, Recipe, Visit site, or website button, open that first. A recipe website usually fills in everything for you. For ChatGPT, use its Share button and copy the public shared link.

The easiest way

A recipe website works better than a social post whenever one is available - these same three steps work no matter which app you found it in.

Open the recipe website

Look for Recipe, Full recipe, Visit, or a website button.

Copy the website link

Tap the browser address, then tap Copy.

Paste it into ReelYums

Tap Add from a link, use Paste link, then choose Turn into recipe. If you only want the original video or post for later, choose Save link for later.

ChatGPTPublic shared conversations

Public shared links only: ReelYums cannot open a private ChatGPT conversation or sign in to your ChatGPT account.

  1. Open the ChatGPT conversation that contains the recipe.
  2. Tap Share, then Copy link. The link must start with https://chatgpt.com/share/.
  3. In ReelYums, tap Add from a link, paste the shared link, then choose Turn into recipe.
  4. Review the title, ingredients, directions, nutrition, and tags before saving. If ReelYums asks for help, copy the recipe response from ChatGPT and paste it into the optional box.

Before sharing: remove personal or sensitive information from the conversation. Anyone who receives its public shared link may be able to view the shared conversation.

Private link rejected? Go back to ChatGPT and use Share → Copy link. Do not copy the browser address ending in /c/….

Try this first: Copy the Facebook post link. ReelYums will try the exact public post text and any recipe website attached to it.

  1. Open the post and tap See more.
  2. Tap Share (it can also show as a curved arrow or three dots), then Copy link.
  3. In ReelYums, tap Paste link, then Turn into recipe.
  4. If fields are still missing, open Full recipe or add the visible post words or screenshots.

No link? Use screenshots instead.

  1. Open the Pin.
  2. Tap Share, then Copy link.
  3. Paste the Pin link into ReelYums and tap Turn into recipe.
  4. If ReelYums still needs help, open Visit site and copy that website link, or add a clear screenshot when the recipe is written on the picture.

  3. Otherwise tap the share arrow (it can also look like a paper airplane), then Copy link.
  4. In ReelYums, use Add from a link and choose Turn into recipe. ReelYums tries the public caption automatically.
  5. If the review is missing ingredients or directions, paste the visible caption or add screenshots.

Try this first: Check the description for a recipe website link - that's usually more complete than the video notes.

  1. Open the video and check the description for a recipe website link.
  2. Open that website when one is linked - it works better than the video notes.
  3. Otherwise tap Share, then Copy link, and paste the video link into ReelYums. ReelYums reads the description for you - no copying and pasting text needed.
  4. If the description doesn't have a full written recipe either, open Edit in ReelYums and add anything missing by hand.

If the recipe is only in a picture
  1. Take clear screenshots of the ingredients and directions.
  2. In ReelYums, open Cannot copy the recipe? Use screenshots.
  3. Add the pictures and tap the button to read them.
  4. Check the words before saving. You can fix anything ReelYums read incorrectly.

Your screenshots stay on this device and are not saved with the recipe.

Your work is protected
  • Unfinished recipes are backed up on this device.
  • If saving fails, the recipe stays open with a Try saving again button.
  • If ReelYums finds a duplicate, you choose whether to open it or save another copy.
  • The original post or website link stays attached so you can open it again.

After you save

Open one short guide at a time to see how to keep, organize, and use everything in your cookbook.

Organize recipes, add details, and keep private notes
  • Course means where it fits in the meal: Breakfast, Main, Side, Snack, Dessert, or Other.
  • Collections are your own labels, such as Baking, Chicken, Soups, Low carb, Christmas, or Air fryer. One item can be in more than one Collection.
  • My personal notes sync across your devices and can be searched, but they are not included when you share a recipe.
  • If a recipe has no picture, tap Edit, then Choose photo. ReelYums makes the photo smaller before privately uploading it.
  • Use Edit to add servings, preparation time, cooking time, and nutrition. Those details appear when you open the saved recipe.
  • Search can find titles, tags, personal notes, and Collection names. The filters can narrow your cookbook by recipe, saved link, favorite, Course, Collection, or source.
Build and organize the Shopping List

The Shopping List is a Premium feature. You can add items yourself or send ingredients straight from a saved recipe.

  1. Open a saved recipe and find Ingredients.
  2. Tap Add to list, then tick only the ingredients you need.
  3. Tap Add to list again. ReelYums skips matching items already on the list.
  4. Open Shopping list from the account menu to check off, remove, or add items.

ReelYums automatically groups the list into grocery sections such as Produce, Meat & seafood, Dairy & eggs, Bakery, Frozen, Pantry, Drinks, and Other. Printing or saving a PDF keeps those groups.

If something did not work

Tap the sentence that matches what happened. Your recipe is usually still safe.

The original post or video no longer opens

The creator may have deleted it, changed who can see it, or moved it. ReelYums still keeps the saved title, Collections, tags, and personal notes, but it cannot restore a missing or private post.

You can tap Edit to update the bookmark or add anything you still remember.

The 14-day recipe link expired

Ask the sender to open the saved recipe and tap Share recipe again. ReelYums will make a new private approval link that lasts another 14 days.

The expired sharing link does not delete either person's cookbook.

ReelYums only saved the link

The app probably hid the recipe words behind its sign-in. ReelYums kept the original link on purpose so you can reopen the post.

  1. Open the saved link and look for a recipe website.
  2. If there is no website, copy the visible recipe words or take screenshots.
  3. Open Edit in ReelYums and add the missing ingredients or directions.
The imported words look mixed up

Social pictures can contain buttons, comments, and words in more than one column. Always check imported text before saving.

  1. Move ingredients into the Ingredients box and directions into the Directions box.
  2. Delete app buttons, comments, or repeated words.
  3. For a screenshot, crop closer to the recipe and read it again.
I cannot find Copy link

Look for Share, a curved arrow, a paper-airplane shape, or three dots. Tap it, then look for Copy link. If it is still missing, open the post in your phone's web browser and copy the address at the top.

My recipe would not save

Keep ReelYums open and check your internet connection. Your unfinished changes should remain backed up on this device. When the connection returns, tap Try saving again.
